Dordrecht, 9 September 2021 – Dutch zero-emission powerboat company Edorado announces the launch of the Edorado 8S, a revolutionary electric model that’s destined to change the future of powerboating via pioneering clean technology – and a new take on sustainable luxury. While traditional powerboats heavily pollute the air and water around them, destroying what they are designed to enjoy in the first place, the 8S offers premium design, power and speed to thrill-seekers, but with none of the oil, emissions, wake or noise.
Co-founders Giel Groothuis and Godert van Hardenbroek have spent years of intense development producing a premium, ultra-fast design that’s set to make metaphorical – rather than literal – waves. Their aim is to disrupt and innovate in the powerboat market. With its unique combination of retractable hydrofoils and electric drive-train, the 8S quite literally takes off, quickly accelerating to speeds that lift the hull clean off the water.

The 8S comes equipped with a slew of state-of-the-art tech features and a patented safety system. The boat’s unique hydrofoil system is equipped with a proprietary Automatic Control System, whose smart computer makes constant adjustments to its two foils for safety and stability. Meanwhile the two propellers of the ‘twin drive’ system provide unparalleled control and let users turn in place, making navigating harbours child’s play.
As well as nailing futuristic performance, the 8S’s design ensures it looks the part, fusing innovation with a timeless, classic appeal. Leading product designer Ivo van Hulten has used his years of experience in the German automotive industry to design a boat with powerful lines and proportions, from the extended bow to the wraparound screen.

Backed by major investment from renowned technology and media entrepreneur and philanthropist Steven Schuurman, Groothuis and van Hardenbroek are aiming to jump-start the inevitable shift to electric ahead of the big boat manufacturers: transforming the industry from the top down.
